Photos: Get a taste for textiles at Gawthorpe Hall
Some 128 years after the birth of Miss Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth, who lived at Gawthorpe and was founder of the Hall’s world-renowned textiles collection of around 30,000 items, staff are planning hope a series of textile workshops.
Learning officer Jenny Waterson said: “TWe’re trying to get more people sewing, knitting and crocheting. We would like to see is more young people taking up crafts and attending the workshops.”

Hide AdGawthorpe is to launch an exclusive range of downloadable knit and crochet patterns, branded Miss Rachel’s Craft House Patterns, inspired by Miss Kay-Shuttleworth’s passion for needlecraft.
The patterns can be downloaded from www.gawthorpetextiles.org.uk and cost £3.25 per pattern or £15 for the collection for a limited time.
